Winward Mercedes driver Maro Engel secured victory in the final race of the 2026 DTM season at Hockenheim. Despite the win, Engel finished as the championship runner-up. Thomas Preining, driving for Manthey Porsche, finished in third place to clinch his second career DTM title. Preining's teammate Ricardo Feller took second place after being let past by the champion on the final lap. Pole-sitter Bastian Buus finished fourth. The race, which faced a three-hour delay, saw Preining make a strong start from seventh on the grid to climb into the top three. While Engel challenged for the lead and the title, he could not overcome the points gap to the Austrian driver. Manthey secured the teams' championship ahead of Winward and Schubert, while Mercedes-AMG claimed the manufacturers' title.
